Reception had a fabulous time in Forest School today. We have made our own necklaces using log slices. The children put on their protective trousers and practised safe handling of tools. Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Morgan were so proud to see the whole class listening carefully and following every instruction first time. The children used a saw to slice the wood and a hand-held drill to make a hole. The children then decorated their necklaces and wore them with pride. Thank you Mr. Russell, we can't wait for our next session on Friday!
Wow! How delicious do these blackberry and apple crumbles look?! Our Reception Robin Class have enjoyed foraging for blackberries as part of our forest school provision with Mr Russell. Mrs. Morgan and Mr. Russell then helped the children make these wonderful blackberry and apple crumbles to take home. We hope you enjoyed them!
On Wednesday last week, we were very fortunate to have a visit from a quartet from the Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra, along with colleagues from the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. The musicians performed 'The Lark's flight over Suffolk' which is based on Ralph Vaughan Williams' well known classic 'The Lark Ascending' πΌ. The quartet also played other well known classical pieces including 'Clair De Lune' by Claude Debussy π.
The mucicians who joined us were highly professional and talented, with one performing in The Phantom of the Opera every evening in London, another for the film score of Harry Potter, and another for Stars Wars! π They showed the children their instruments, talked about how they have become musicians, and all of the wonderful opportunities that this has given them in their lives. π·πΈπ»πͺ
The faces of the children really shone with enjoyment and excitement, so much so that there was an unprompted standing ovation at the end! π It was a joy to see how the beautiful music enthralled us all, and how the Orchestra's visit really inspired the creativity and imagination of all of our children. π₯°
