Volunteering

Thank you for considering Volunteering at our school.  The contribution which Volunteers bring to our school is very much appreciated, and we hope that you will enjoy being part of our team.
Please find below the stages required to complete your application as a Volunteer at Phoenix St. Peter Academy. If you have any queries, please contact our School Business Manager, Mrs. Kirsten Ward at:  kirsten.ward@phoenixstpeteracademy.org
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and as a trusted member of our community, the same vetting checks will be undertaken for every Volunteer, as we do for every Employee.

1.  School Application Form:
Please complete and return the initial Application Form which can be found at the bottom of this page, along with the originals of the following documents to support your DBS Check:

  1. Passport.
  2. Driving Licence.
  3. Utility Bill, in your name and address and dated within the last 3 months.
  4. Bank Statement, in your name and address and dated within the last 3 months.

2. Reach2 Application Process
As part of our trust's centralisation of school functions, Reach2 Academy Trust requires all Volunteers to complete an online application through the MyNewTerm platform, as they will process your DBS application centrally.  The link to this platform is here:

3.  References:
We will request a reference from two Referees (who should not be a family member).

4.  DBS Application:
We will request an Enhanced DBS Check via the Disclosure & Barring Service, which includes a Child's Barred List Check. Further information around this can be found at the following link:

5.  School Induction:
On receipt of your satisfactory References and DBS Check, you will be invited to meet our School Business Manager who will give you a tour of our school and meet some of the staff, to ensure your time at Phoenix St. Peter Academy is enjoyable.

6.  Safeguarding Training:
On the same day, you will meet our Associate Headteacher, Mr. Matthew Jordan, who will conduct our Safeguarding Training with you, and explain our and your responsibilities to 'Keeping Children Safe in Education', to ensure that you are comfortable and confident in your role as a Volunteer at Phoenix St. Peter Academy.

7.  Disqualification Under the Childcare Act Declaration / Self-Declaration
At the training, you will be asked to complete the above Declaration around the 2018 Regulations of the Childcare Act 2006, which sets out the circumstances in which an individual will be disqualified from working with children.  Further information around this can be found at the following link:

8.  Confirmations:
